Portfolio Manager

DEFINITION A person or, more often, a business that controls an investment portfolio on behalf of a client. Investment managers or Portfolio Managers make investment decisions on behalf of the client in accordance to the parameters set by the client. The goal is to make the most profit for the client as possible.

It's the portfolio manager's job to invest the client's assets in a way that's appropriate to meet the client's goals. A portfolio manager develops investment strategies, selects individual investments, evaluates performance, and rebalances the portfolio as necessary.
