Barcelona star Jules Conte has shared a statement apologizing for “excessive” celebrations after their win over Sevilla and wishing his former club all the best after joining the Catalan giants last summer.
Jules Conte has apologized for his “excessive” celebration during Barcelona’s clash with Sevilla on Sunday night.
Barcelona beat Conte’s former side 3-0 thanks to goals from Jordi Alba, Gavi and Rafinha, but the 24-year-old came under fire for his actions.
Sevilla fans were furious with Kunte’s reaction to Alba’s opening goal – considering he spent three years at their club before signing for Barcelona last summer.
However, Kunde took to social media shortly after the match to apologize for his behavior and wish his former club “the best”.
The Frenchman said: “I was always grateful for the opportunity to wear the red and white shirt and for the love I received while I was there.

Sevilla fans were furious with Kunte’s reaction to Alba’s opening goal – considering he spent three years at their club before signing for Barcelona last summer.
“That’s why I wanted to apologize for the goal celebration which, in a moment of euphoria, was excessive on my part.
The 24-year-old finished by saying: “I wish you the best, always.”
Conte joined Barcelona from Sevilla in the 2022 summer transfer window – after being approached by a number of clubs, including Chelsea.
Conte, who made his competitive debut for Barcelona in a 4-0 win over Real Valladolid in August 2022, said it was an “easy choice” to join Barcelona.
Conte said Xavi was influential in his decision to join Barca and the LaLiga giants can “attract anyone” because of their stature.
After signing for Barcelona, Conte said: “Barca is still a club that can attract anyone, and the coach was also very important.
“He gave me a lot of confidence and I liked the way he approached football. It was an easy choice for me because it gave me everything I was looking for.’
Barcelona return to action on Sunday 12 February when they face Villarreal at the historic Estadio de la Ceramica.
