Joker 2 The crew released a photo revealing the first shot of Lady Gaga with Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker as Harley Quinn… or did they?
Director Todd Philips posted on his Instagram page a photo of Gaga and Phoenix in an intimate pose. Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/Joker is in smudged makeup similar to what he wore in the first film. At this point, viewers can only assume this takes place in Arkham Asylum, which points Gaga’s character in the direction of Harley Quinn, given the character’s origins. After Arthur Fleck’s dignified take on madness and actions at the end of the film, he had been placed in a mental institution with many hints that he might have escaped. Also returning for the sequel is Zazie Beetz, who played Arthur’s neighbor Sophie Dumond.
Joker And Harley: A Match Made in an Asylum
It was created in 1993 Batman: The Animated Series by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, Harley Quinn’s status evaporated as fans gravitated towards her. Her origin was revealed in the graphic novel Crazy Love, revealing that she was Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a recent Arkham psychiatrist who tried to treat the Joker to advance her career. Instead, she fell for his lies and was seduced by him. Losing her own power of reason, she adopted the hairy persona of Harley Quinn and broke the clown from Arkham. Her popularity transcended the animated series, as she debuted in the regular DC Universe during the Batman storyline “No Man’s Land” in 1997. Her first monthly series was written by Dini himself. Her first live performance was in 2016 Suicide Squad by Margot Robbie, who has reprized the role in two separate films.
Robbie has nothing but praise for Gaga’s casting, but there’s been no official confirmation on who the Oscar-winning singer is playing the character. With Title Joker: Folie a Deux – “Madness for Two” in French – this is described as a musical, which will showcase Gaga’s singing and acting skills, last seen on the big screen alongside Bradley Cooper in A star Is Born.
To date there is no official synopsis of the film. but the film is set in the recently announced Elseworlds Timeline by DC Studios Co-Presidents James Gunn and Peter Safran. This allows Matt Reeves to exist BatmanRobbie’s Suicide Squad, and more in an ever-expanding multiverse where everything is normal. The film is slated to release on October 4, 2024.
