Nier’s Yoko Taro did a puppet show while we wait for delayed anime

The anime adaptation of Nier Automata is currently on hiatus due to production issues related to COVID, but series creator Yoko Taro has a surprise for fans hungry for updates. He teamed up with rock band Amazarashi to create a 15-minute long music video consisting of a puppet show retelling the story of Nier Automata itself.

Set in the ending theme of the Automata anime, Antimony, this is told from the perspective of its ubiquitous robots, who are controlled by two creators known as “Father” and “Mother”. While we won’t reveal exactly how this conflict turns out for our cute robot friends, let’s just say that there are a lot of parallels between theirs and the plight of the androids starring in the original Automata.
